The 30 hopefuls and contenders to win the Mr. and Ms. Chiantown 2016 |
Press Release:
Fil-Chi Media Productions Incorporated
(Chinoy TV), in cooperation with Miss Chinatown Foundation, introduces 30 young,
spirited and talented men and women as this year’s official candidates for the
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines pageant, co-presented by Oriental Group and
the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Incorporated.
Now on its 3rd year, the coveted
search in the Chinese-Filipino community has come down to 15 boys and 15 girls,
ages 18 to 26 years old, who personify unity
in diversity and an effort to stay true to opulent traditions while
adapting to the changing times.
In what is set to be a month-long journey,
the candidates will compete to represent the excellence of the Chinese-Filipino
youth in areas such as leadership, the arts, entrepreneurship and academics. Two
will emerge as ultimate victors who will each be taking home 500,000 pesos
worth of prizes.
Timely challenges in relations between two
different yet vibrant nations have ignited a parade that transcends a show of
beauty and charisma. More importantly, the Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines
2016 candidates will be endorsing an advocacy of oneness and a developed sense
of belonging at a time they are needed the most.
This pageant serves as an eye-opener, that
through the union of two cultures and making the best of both, there can be
unity in diversity. “By emphasizing this advocacy, we can expect more from the
candidates this year in terms of their vision and commitment throughout the
course”, promises Alvin Kingson Tan, President of Fil-Chi Media Productions.
Leading to the main event in a month’s time,
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2016 will have a Talent Competition on July
10 at The Lucky Chinatown Mall where select candidates will be showcasing their
creative takes on personal skills; a Cultural Costume Competition on July 17 at
Eastwood Central Plaza, to flaunt the fusion of traditional and modern
Chinese-Filipino through colorful ensembles; and, a Swimsuit Competition x
Fashion Show on July 20 at the Chaos, City of Dreams Manila.
