Every man wants to look his best, and part of that look is his hair. Hair products for men have been around for a very long time, and pomade is just one of many choices out there. It is important to note that it is not necessarily sold by that name specifically. The consumer must look at the ingredient list to know if he has a paste, wax, cream, or oil based product.
My nephew, Kyle Madrid likes his hair sleek and shiny without the grease |
My teenage nephew Kyle would always say in the vernacular, "Galawin mo na lahat, 'wag lang ang buhok ko." He abhors when someone tries to pick on his hair because he has spent time "perfecting his hair style" according to his preferred looks. Now, here's the sad part, since he's been using hair styling products since he was 8 years old, he's gotten dandruff because those products he's been using has dried up his scalp. And as his guardian, I had been searching for the right product that would make Kyle do whatever it is that he wanted to do with his hair sans the fall of dandruff and flaky scalp.

The first thing that came to my mind upon hearing the word pomade was something that most Lolo (grandfathers) would often use on their hair. But that misconception got easily debunk after I reached for a tub of Slick Tight Pomade. It’s a hair product that has been created to form that greased up look.
Slick Tight Pomade variants in Bubblegum, Cool Mint, Strawberries and Cola scents |
Kyle and I decided to use the Slick Tight Pomade Tub in Cool Mint variant. It has an instant grip on your hair just like a wax, yet it is water soluble. You will surely enjoy its unique light scent. This Slick Tight Pomade works best on classic, retro, modern as well as old-school styles. It's also best to have a sleek shine without the greasy after feel.
Slick Tight Pomade is made from organic beeswax, castor oil, petrolatum and essential oils. Since it is concentrated, then you only need a little amount and it can go along way. By applying it evenly and smoothly, you will be able to adjust its hold strength depending on the water in your hair.
Slick Tight Pomade in Cool Mint |
Slick Tight Pomade is a good quality product. This organic-based pomade has the ability to hold like a wax, but it can easily be wash out like a gel. It can provide high shine to achieve a polished look. It can also control the curliest as well as the thickest hair. It can keep your hair in place and keeps you looking good all day. Kyle goes home from school still looking as dapper as he was before he left.
When your hair is dry, it can give you the strongest hold. Slick Tight Pomade is very versatile. You can re-style your hair anytime without losing control. It is available in other variants: Bubblegum scented, Strawberry scented, Cola scented and Cool Mint. But the scent is subtle and rugged, so it's not overpowering. Each tub costs Php250.00 each. You may use them for like a maximum of 6 months, so in effect, you're still able to save money.
The best part? Slick Tight Pomade does not leave any residue, hence, you don't have to worry about flaky scalp and you can say buh-bye to dandruff!
Of course, there are other products out there. Hair gel is a very popular option for men. A gel is considered to be the most lightweight of all the hair products, unlike pomades or waxes, and is possibly much more suited for thinning or balding men. However, it does dry to a crunchy mass and can make hair seem like it is plastic until the gel is washed out. Washing gel out is easy, which also means that men using gel in rainy or humid climates is not recommended. In this case, it is best to stick with something that is not easily destroyed, like pomade.
The hair product a man chooses to use depends on how much he wants to work at keeping his image and hairstyle. The choice to use pomade is not as popular as it once was however, it seems to be making a return to the male culture with such hairstyles as the ducktail and quiff.
Hair styling product usage among men who prefer a pomade, do so because of several reasons, such as; it doesn’t get sticky, crusty, flaky, or wash out with the rain. However, washing this product out could be a challenge. There seems to be a trick to it, though. It has been suggested to try shampoo made for oily hair, dish soap, or olive oil to get the product out of the hair. Whichever hair product a man chooses to use for his hair, the obvious choice is to use whatever you are comfortable with. Slick Tight Pomade is a good choice and should not be overlooked on rows of available hairstyle products online.
