While bone conduction does the heavy lifting, a lot of sound does make it into your ears the usual way.

Ultimately the sound quality is really better than normal headphones. It’s rich and warm. Bass is interesting in that it actually vibrates your face, so feels a lot more forceful. Earbuds and headphones are great devices for bettering your sound experience, but if you need to focus on your surroundings while listening to tunes, they’re not your best choice. If you need to be able to listen to cars pass by as you go for a jog, or still be able to hear your supervisor on a construction job, you might want to consider using bone conduction headphones. These headphones are slim, compact, and do not isolate sound — this makes them great for focusing on other tasks while still having some music playing in your ambiance.
