Las Piñas Celebrates 6th Food Festival

Re-elected Senator Cynthia Villar welcomes everyone to the Las Pinas 6th Food Festival

Newly re-elected Senator Cynthia Villar recently led the celebration of the 6th Las Pinas Food Festival as thousands troop to the Villar SIPAG hall in Pulang Lupa Uno to join the festivities.


Villar, is the managing Director of the Villar Social Institute for Poverty Alleviation and Governance (Villar SIPAG), welcomed visitors and participants to the yearly event which “showcase the city’s culinary heritage and Laspineros’ world-class cooking skills.”

“We are very glad that this food Festival has become a yearly event for the City and nearby areas not only to promote our local delicacy, but also to promote our advocacy for safe and nutritious food,” Villar said

Senator Villar was also joined by her daughter, Las Pinas Congresswoman-elect Camille Villar during the celebration.

As part of the food festival, a cooking competition was held participated in by the city’s 20 barangays. Each team presented one viand/ulam and one dessert expressing this year's theme which was “Cook Healthy, Eat Happy.”

Winners of the Inter Barangay Cooking Competition Champion is Barangay Pamplona Uno got P20,000.00; 1st place is Barangay Talon 4 got P15,000.00. and 2nd place is Barangay Daniel Fajardo got P10,000.

A contest for urban gardening was also held with three categories- The winner in Inter Barangay is BF International CAA, Inter Homeowners Association is Castellan Classic Talon 2, and Inter School Champion is Las Pinas East National High School. One winner for each category got P50,000 each. They give also special award to Barangay Talon 4 got P20,000.

A food retailer’s fair was also featured during the festival where micro and small enterprises from Las Pinas and nearby areas of Cavite, Muntinlupa, Pasay and Quezon City promote their products and services.
