There’s nothing like witnessing the sea waters as they reflect
the eternal horizon. During my recent out of town travel with fellow foodies
and blogger friends, we had the chance to enjoy a sumptuous brunch buffet at
Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort in Anilao, Mabini, Batangas. After all, one
of the must-do’s when you’re on a travel is to sample the buffet spread and
what it difference does it offer. This definitely saves you the trouble of
finding a suitable venue during your weekend getaway.
Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort |
Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort is known for its most
spectacular beach front location, but one can also indulge in fabulously fresh,
all-day dining here. Explore the crystal clear water and scattered diving spots
that surround the resort and have fun in different water sports like
windsurfing, kayak, snorkel, swimming among many others.
With dedicated and amicable staff, beachfront location,
allocated daybeds, private bathroom and shower, this is the most luxurious way
to experience how it is to be VIP. Imagine sipping a glass of vodka, mojito or
martinis, bonfires to the cool tunes, as the sun sets cliffside? Whether you’re
with your friends, family or your significant other, Saltitude Dive & Beach
resort has got you covered. You can even set up your own intimate setting any
occasion, and I’m pretty sure it’ll be one memorable experience. You can choose
from a selection of cocktail drinks and canapes and take the ocean view and stunning
landscape whilst you enjoy your meal.

Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort is all about relaxing,
soaking up the coastal chic vibe and having fun in the crystal clear water. You
can take your pick from their awesome water activities or simply plop down into
one of their comfort pillows, read a good book in hand and chill.
Mingle Restaurant at Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort Anilao |
Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort also recently launched
“Brunchin’@ the Beach” at their Mingle restaurant where they are serving an array
of intercontinental cuisines. Stepping into their restaurant almost feels like
you’re being transported to a quaint Greek dining hall. There were colorful
machuca tiles that lined the tables of the restaurant, while the walls were
adorned with rustic stone washed details.

Yes, don't miss the opportunity to dine on a delicious
locally-prepared brunch buffet ranging from fresh fish, roasted meats, canapes,
Flipino all-time favorite viands, some international cuisines and satisfying
desserts. Complete your meal with authentic Kapeng Barako [Batangas brewed
coffee] or a glass of orange juice or simply a glass of iced water infused with
cucumber and lemon, this is the best way to spend a lovely day against a
gorgeous, blissful Anilao beach backdrop. Beer and alcohol drinkers would also
be happy to know that the restaurant includes a selection of beer, housepour
wines and spirits.

As a foodie, I can actually go as far as this side of
Batangas to try their “Brunchin’@the Beach” buffet concept. I have to say that my
companions and I were not disappointed at all. We were pleasantly greeted by a
rather interesting and open layout of the restaurant. Dining al fresco with
only the sound of the wind chimes and the sea breeze is very relaxing not only
to my ears but also to my soul. The food served were fresh, dishes were very
good and some even exceeded beyond our expectations.
Some of the cuisines that were served during our visit |
Unlike other beach restaurants I went to, even if almost all
the tables at the restaurant were filled up. The place wasn’t buzzing with the
constant chatter of patrons, it felt so comforting listening to the occasional
sounds of the wind chimes and the ocean breeze that seemed to reckon you.
Their restaurant offers a wide variety of international
cuisine – from appetizers, soup and fresh seafood, to roasts, local favourites
and desserts. All these delights are nicely spread across the food stations
which are quite nicely spaced out from one another. So, do take note that you may
need to do a fair bit of walking to get from one station to the next. Well, at
least this helps you digest the food before digging in to the next plate.

We also had the opportunity to try the selected dishes from
their Brunchin’@ the beach menu. The said menu was put together by the owner,
Ms. Malou Esparrago together with their in-house chef. Nothing was highly
spiced, which allowed the flavours to shine. Would recommend more anytime of
the day, and definitely a must-visit.

Chewy puto and kutsinta with grated coconut is perfect combination |
Champorado chocolate rice porridge with crispy dilis [anchovy] is a hit for everyone! |
I loved the Halaan [Clam] Soup so much that she managed to
finish the entire bowl (for someone who’s not really fond of shellfish, that’s
quite an accomplishment!). I loved their steamed fish—so fresh and it had none
of the ‘fishy’ after taste. Revel in their array of Japanese maki rolls or
Chinese siomai. I also liked the fact that they had Pinoy dishes for diners
especially those with foreign guests to try and enjoy. The champorado had the
option to top it with crispy dilis [crispy fried anchovy]. There’s also the
Pinoy favorite pork adobo. I also enjoyed the puto and chewy kutsinta with
grated coconut.
Pinoy favorite: Pork Adobo |
For the Italian station, I also enjoyed their spicy version of Aglio Olio. The dish is made lightly with sautéed minced garlic in olive oil and dried red chili flakes tossed in spaghetti pasta. They stayed pretty true to the classic method of slowly tossing the garlic slices into the pasta. But please make room for their Lasagna. It was filling and satisfying from my first spoonful of the dish. With fresh basil, sausage, ground beef and oozing melted cheese, you can never go wrong with their lasagna. If Garfield the popular cat character would be visiting Saltitude, for sure he’d also go crazy over their lasagna like I did. For Garfield fanatic, you surely know it’s his favorite food.

Don't forget the cheese and bread at theirAll-American spread |
Oh and please make room for desserts. Mingle restaurant
serves one of the best tasting leche flans I’ve ever had. They also have Buko
Pandan. I’m no fan of Buko, but I loved their buko pandan.

You can enjoy all these dishes and more. For only Php699 per
pax, diners can enjoy a well-curated spread of buffet dishes with a weekly
themed cuisine.
Since Mingle restaurant is a casual dining place, there’s no
need to slip on your favourite cocktail dress and heels. Putting on a nice and
comfy tank-and-jeans combo, casual dress or even in your swimsuit will suffice.

And it’s also nice to come during the summertime where they
serve BBQ during Saturday beach night. They would fire up beach bonfires at
sunset. All you need to do is grab a beanbag and toast some marshmallows for
that s’mores you’ve been jonesing for. Is there a better way to end the day?
Purple Plum Fairy truly enjoyed her brunchin @ the beach experience that she sees another opportunity to be back at Saltitude Dive & Beach Resort soon. |
