The Embassy of Denmark proudly announces the return of the 5th Danish Film Festival at the Red Carpet Theater of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City from October 9 to 13, 2019. This year's line up of featured films focuses on the strength and variety of the Danish film culture.

For the opening night, the Filipino produced and directed psycho-thriller Nuuk will be the featured film. Wikipedia says that Nuuk (Greenlandic pronunciation: [nuːk], Danish: [ˈnu(ː)k]; Danish: Godthåb) is the capital and largest city of Greenland. It is the seat of government and the country's largest cultural and economic centre. The major cities closest to the capital are Iqaluit and St. John's in Canada and Reykjavík in Iceland.

Hearty Bread's Deliciously Gluten-Free Healthy Products

Hearty Bread
If you’re tired of paying too much for sliced gluten free bread that you can’t separate or crumbles before your very eyes, here’s Hearty Bread, a gluten free bread brand to try.

Although packaged gluten free products are said to be more expensive than conventional products it is due to the fact that the ingredients are more expensive (in part because the market is smaller). However it's not the case for Hearty Bread. They have larger loaves of bread that are still king of a properly sized piece of bread that isn't more melba toast than sandwich bread.

Gluten free Banana Loaf
Oh and did I mention I love their banana loaf. In the vernacular, we refer to it as "siksik", meaning to say it's not spongy. It weighs better and tastes better too. The usual banana loaf are too sweet for my taste but Heart Bread's is perfectly right on my kind of sweetness.

Yummy Tokyo Regis Center Katipunan Food Review: Affordable Good Quality Ramen Up Until its Last Slurp!

Yummy Tokyo banner

If you were an Atenean or someone who studies in one of the nearby campuses in that area along Katipunan Avenue, you know pretty much that amidst the hurly-burly of nail salons, gaming stops and fitness centers, there is Regis Center--a favorite hangout place where restaurants and other student related activities abound. But apart from that, there's a food hall on the 3rd level of Regis Center that's worth checking out. And that's also how I've learned about my latest food discovery called Yummy Tokyo.

Regis Center Food Hall

Regis Center Food Hall

With the Ateneo Campus as your backdrop while you eat, how can you ever go wrong?

Unlike ordinary food courts, the food hall at Regis Center isn't just a perfect study space  or a venue for a meeting with the interesting view of Ateneo de Manila's pocket of greens and the hustle and bustle downstairs, people actually come here at Regis Center to enjoy a really good meal. And because the primary customer base is made up of students, the food hall thoughtfully comes up in fun ways to present a positive youthful vibe which can be noticed right from the way their walls were carefully crafted to the establishments.

Now, let's get back to my latest food discovery, Yummy Tokyo. As a certified ramen enthusiast, I've always been in search of affordable bowls of ramen without sacrificing its quality or taste. Each time I stumble upon affordable ramen bowls at unbelievably affordable price and able to pass my palate's discriminating taste, I can't help but write about it and share the good news to my fellow foodies. Hence, here at Regis Center, I've came across Yummy Tokyo.

Ramen, that beloved Japanese noodle dish, has skyrocketed in popularity around the world. Bowls of it are generally served in a very hot soup. Now is perfectly fine to get your noodle fix in the chill of the coming "Ber"months and the Holiday season. Ramen noodles may seem simple at first blush, but ramen noodles in reality have complexities.
If you're like me who's craving for some ramen fix — look no further. Yummy Tokyo is here, affordable delicious bowls of ramen for you to slurp during this season’s sultry afternoons or nights.

Back in the 80's,  I remember that as a child, I really wanted to visit the happiest place on the planet--Disneyland. But what if I tell you that you can relive your childhood memories and get the chance to feel like a kid again? It isn't too late to make your childhood dreams to come true.

The Pop-Up Katipunan: Definitely Not Your Usual Mall

The Pop Up Katipunan
Have you ever heard of container van architecture? If you haven’t, then you’re probably missing out on something. I had the rare opportunity to sleep in a container van turned into a hotel/inn during my previous travel gigs but I hadn’t seen an al fresco mall which had its tenants in a movable container van architecture until I’ve been to The Pop Up Katipunan recently.

Situated right in the heart of Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, The Pop Up’s dynamic architecture allows itself to become a must-visit place for partying or simply hanging out with friends at night after a grueling work day. It’s also a unique lifestyle mall during the day where family can spend their quality time dining out in one of the establishments.

Do not underestimate the container architecture of The Pop Up Katipunan. One of the many advantages of this unique lifestyle mall is that the container vans can be rearranged in a matter of hours—and could easily transform itself to accommodate fully-functional retail space from its large-scale events place vibe.

I recently toured The Pop Up Katipunan and I’d have to say I was pretty impressed. There were several constructions which are now in full swing such as the Alliance MMA Gym which is said to be owned by popular MMA fighter Brandon Vera, who happens to be a good friend of my Uncle, former UFC MMA fighter, Mark Munoz, better known as “The Filipino Wrecking Machine."  Mr. Jeffrey Oh, one of The Pop Up Katipunan owners said that it will even house an acrylic swimming pool on its roof deck.

REPERTORY PHILIPPINES stages its First Filipino Musical Adaptation via The Quest for the Adarna

My first encounter with the mythical Adarna bird happened during my freshman year in high school. Back then, it was an academic requirement to study corrido [a popular narrative song and poetry that forms a ballad.] as part of Philippine literature. Ibong Adarna is a 16th century Filipino epic poem about an eponymous magical bird. The story is commonly attributed to the Filipino poet Jose de la Cruz, better known as “Huseng Sisiw.” However, to this day, the exact authorship is disputed because another legend says it was brought to the Philippines by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi in 1565.

Discover what’s standing between you and your success in preventing hair loss

Press release:

There comes a time in your life that you have to stand up and say, “Enough is enough.” And that’s the day when you decide to change your life for the better. Who doesn’t want to become accomplished? Even the “gifted” and brilliant ones have to pay the price so as to realize their goals in life.
When we fail to eat on time, get enough exercise or sleep between seven to nine hours a day, we’re compromising our health and wellness as we reduce the maximum extent that our body must function. Consequently, the effects in our body may extend and manifest as early warning signs of hair loss.
Take it from celebrity beauty and salon expert Fanny “TF” Serrano, who once personally experienced such an ordeal.  For him, avoiding harsh synthetic solutions and choosing to use the right products with natural ingredients is a must and still the best way to deal with mane problems like losing or thinning of the hair.

With this in mind, embracing natural healthy lifestyle is so important to achieve optimal health, best physical condition and healthy full head of hair. Health products made out of natural ingredients are way effective for better healing and maintaining our body’s lifelong function than those of synthetic ones. Rather than investing in those branded shampoos or other hair treatments, there’s a natural way to help arrest hair loss and help remedy its four early symptoms, namely, excessive hair shedding, thinning hair, receding hair line, and bald patches. This is none other than NOVUHAIR, nature’s answer to hair loss.

Dyslipidemia: What Every Filipino Should Know

Cardiovascular diseases are still very much prevalent in the lives of many Filipinos. This is due to the fact that Filipinos love to eat. Each time we gather, there will always be something to eat. And even if we eat something that's supposedly nutritious such as the Ilocano vegetable dish Pinakbet, still it's not as healthy as you think it is. Why is that so? Primarily because we cook our Pinakbet with fermented shrimp paste [Bagoong] which is really salty and we also include chunks of crispy deep-fried bagnet [pork belly] as toppings for our pinakbet. So how would you say that it is a healthy vegetable dish when you have all of these things as part of your ingredients? That's why we are said to be predisposed to CVD and ischemic stroke among many other lifestyle associated diseases.

Have you ever heard of Dyslipidemia? I have not encountered this word until I had recently heard about it when I had attended a bloggers event by Zuellig Pharma and Amgen Philippines to create awareness of CVD and its implications. During the said event, Dr. Lourdes Ella Santos, MD, an Adult Cardiologist and Lipidologist gave a short talk about this alarming condition called dyslipidemia as well as discussed about other risk factors on certain heart diseases and ailments.

FREE Movies at the Cine Mexico at Shangri-La Plaza’s Red Carpet Theater

Cine Mexico at the Red Carpet of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall

Back in the 90’s, I guess we’ve all been guilty at some point in our lives of being hooked to poignant Mexican telenovelas or soap operas. If you weren’t into that, then perhaps you must’ve enjoyed at least any delicious Mexican food or you must’ve been a beauty pageant fanatic who would always look for  Mexico’s representative with much anticipation. But have you ever tried watching any Mexican film? In the recent years, two of the five Best Picture winners at the much-acclaimed award-giving body Oscars have been films by Mexican directors—Alejandro Inarritu’s Birdman and Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water. I was able to see The Shape of Water and it was indeed one of the greatest Mexican films I had ever seen. There were unexpected twists on the said movie’s ending which gave audiences something to think about as they left the cinema. Such films along with Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma which recently received accolades helped put Mexico’s reputation for contemporary cinema.

Now here’s the good news for everyone, you too can watch and see Mexican films for FREE this coming Cine Mexico which will be happening from September 20 until 24, 2019 at the Red Carpet Theater Cinema 4 of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall in Mandaluyong City. This is in partnership with the Embassy of Mexico in Manila and the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
