Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadan with a lavish feast |
Muslims bid farewell to the sunup
to sundown period of fasting known as Ramadan this weekend. On Eid, Muslims
across the world offer their prayers to the almighty, and then prepare for a
lavish Eid feast featuring scrumptious delicacies and drinks. With Eid less
than a fortnight away, the occasion will be affected this year as nations
around the world take measures to curb the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns
remain in place for many countries as the risk of new waves of the Covid-19
virus remains high.
The coronavirus pandemic has
brought normal life to a standstill, including religious practice, with communal
prayers and nightly Ramadan prayers impacted by the restrictions brought in to
stifle the spread of the pandemic. Eid-al-fitr is a celebration to show
thankfulness to Allah for allowing them to finish and be able to fulfill their
obligation by fasting, completing good deeds and gives them hope of having past
sins forgiven and a chance to wipe the slate clean.
What’s a celebration without a
feast? It just isn’t the same without a little indulgence. Food is a staple of
the Eid celebration, as families and friends come together to enjoy an
elaborate and exquisitely prepared feast in each other’s company. Make staying
at home a little more special for your family with our Ramadan special family
meal set C from the famed Café Ilang Ilang. Feast and indulge in our Ramadan
home buffet set which includes dried dates, mango juice, hummus, fatoush salad,
freshly baked nan and roti bread, vegetable samosa, tandoori chicken, lamb
rogan josh, and baklava for dessert. We also have A La Carte options (solo
servings, some may be shared by 2) and Home Buffet sets good for at least 4
persons.
