What happens when you combine two well-loved Filipino flavors in one awesome cake? If you love leche flan (custard) and ube (purple yam), chances are, you'd be delighted to learn that both flavors are available in a single cake so you never had to choose again between those two. I recently stumbled upon this cake as I was browsing online searching for chocolate moist cake which my fiance specifically wanted for his birthday. There have been so many food trends nowadays that it gets difficult to choose which ones to try. But I was glad to have found Sweet Kiss on Instagram.
Sweet Kiss is an online store that creates customize cakes and sweet treats. And Lechenge Ube (Ube Caramel Cake) is one of their best sellers. Their Ube Caramel Cake costs P690 for the rectangular shape 8x12" and heart-shaped at 7 inches for P590.
Sweet Kiss' version of Lecheng Ube (Ube Caramel Cake) is composed of syrupy caramel on top of ube flavored sponge cake. Biting into it, the soft and airy taste of classic ube cake perfectly complements the creamy yet not-too-sweet caramel syrup spread on top. With the earthy flavor of ube and the yummy caramel custard, you'd be happy to indulge in this winner dessert! This kind of cake is best paired with a warm cup of coffee.
I love how the creamy caramel stays so creamy on top while the ube was soft and sponge-y despite of the long travels we've had. My fiance, Jason lives in the South (Las Pinas) while we picked this up at Sweet Kiss shop in Quezon City. I actually spent some time trying to figure how this was made without compromising the quality of neither the caramel or the ube cake. Since I couldn't figure it out, I just happily ate my slice of cake. Each slice was almost melt-in-your-mouth. What I liked best about it is that it doesn't make my throat hurt. Most sweet stuff would usually have such kind of effect on me. But this Lecheng Ube from Sweet Kiss didn't. One thing I can say is that our ube can also be considered world-class, not to mention, very versatile because you can do a lot with it.
I had also ordered Sweet Kiss' minimalist cake (6x4 inches) for Jason's birthday. Incidentally, minimalist cakes have an ongoing promo at the moment: instead of P1,000, you can get a minimalist cake at P590, promo is good until August 30, 2020.
For its 6x4 inches cake, they can change colors and personalized it for you. Flavors available are Red Velvet and Choco Moist. I chose the latter because Jason is a chocolate fan.
I'm so happy to discover Sweet Kiss. You may inquire at ordersweetsph@gmail.com or call them at 5136600 or 0916-3479958. You may pick-up at 60-A Scout Limbaga Street, Quezon City.
