Amorsolo Masterpiece in Lego on Exhibit at The Art Gallery of The Manila Hotel

At the PinoyLUG x Project Amorsolo art exhibition, which takes place at The Manila Hotel's Art Gallery from November 28, 2022 to January 16, 2023, will see Fernando Amorsolo's works in a new light as they transform into LEGO brick mosaic art renderings (near Fiesta Pavilion).

To conserve and disseminate the works of the Grand Old Man of Philippine Art to a broader audience, the Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation Inc. has partnered with the Pinoy LEGO Users Group (PinoyLUG), a group of passionate Filipino Lego builders and fans. A PinoyLUG team would recreate three of the Master's most well-known pieces as mosaic art made out of Lego bricks. The finished pieces, which were recreations of several of Amorsolo's most well-known pieces, included "Bayanihan," "Dalagang Bukid," and "Early Traders," were specifically chosen and put together by PinoyLUG members during the pandemic because the ideas behind these pieces align with LEGO's desire to foster communities. Due to the limited availability of Lego bricks in various sizes and colors, this project was truly a labor of love.

"We are continuing to unite the past with the present through the heritage of art that speaks of our history, patriotism, and cultural pride," Mr. Leslie Araujo said. And we enjoy ourselves while doing it. In the future, our offspring and the generations that follow them will have accomplished considerably more than we have. That is the legacy PinoyLUG hopes to leave for the Lego community, according to Mr. Araujo.

The Manila Hotel's Art Gallery will host the three Amorsolo masterpieces until January 16, 2023. allowing fans of Lego and those who like Philippine art and bricks to appreciate the three replicas of masterpieces. Admission is free!
