Mango Tree Cafe at the Ground Floor of Gateway Mall 2 in Araneta City Cubao

Mango Tree Cafe has recently elevated its menu, offering a delectable array of Thai dishes perfect for any time of day. From their new All Day Thai menu to their exciting Oktoberfest specials, there's something to satisfy every palate. Craving a taste of Thailand without leaving the city? Look no further than Mango Tree Cafe's latest offering, All Day Thai. This exciting menu brings the vibrant flavors of the Land of Smiles to your table, from brunch to dinner.

Chili Crispy Calamari

Green Curry Chicken Noodles

The All Day Thai menu showcases a wide range of Thai classics and innovative creations. Start your day with the Fried Egg Salad, a unique twist on a breakfast staple. For a hearty lunch or dinner, indulge in the Thai Pork with Sticky Rice in Jim Jaew Sauce or the Beef Boat Noodles. If you're craving something a bit spicier, try the Green Curry Chicken Noodles or the Stir-fried Okra with Fermented Fish. And don't forget to save room for dessert with the delightful Coconut and Custard with Sweet Corn.

Drunken Seafood Pasta

Must-Try Dishes:

  • Chili Crispy Calamari: Tender calamari coated in a fiery chili sauce, perfect for those who love a little heat.
  • Stir-fried Okra with Fermented Fish: A unique and flavorful dish showcasing okra's versatility. Yes, I know not everyone eats this slimy veggie. But just give this a try. You might be a convert. It's good for you, it has lots of fiber anyway.
  • Drunken Seafood Pasta: A satisfying pasta dish loaded with fresh seafood and a spicy kick.
  • Coconut and Custard with Sweet Corn: A sweet and indulgent dessert that will leave you craving more.
  • Fried Egg Salad: This unique twist on a classic salad features a perfectly cooked fried egg, adding a rich and satisfying element to the fresh and vibrant flavors. (I find this really refreshing!)
  • Thai Pork with Sticky Rice in Jim Jaew Sauce: Indulge in the fiery heat of Jim Jeaw sauce, a traditional Thai chili dip, as it complements the tender pork and fragrant sticky rice. (Jim Jeaw, also known as Nam Jim Jeaw is a classic Thai dipping sauce typically used for grilled meats. It's made from fish sauce, lime juice and/or tamarind, sugar, and dried chillies, toasted powder and fresh herbs.) The spicy acidity, with toasted rice aroma and fresh herbs makes it the perfect thing to enhance and balance the richness of the grilled pork.
  • Beef Boat Noodles: This hearty soup is a flavorful fusion of beef, noodles, and aromatic broth, making it the perfect comfort food. This soup reminds me of Pho Bo and it's served with crispy chicken skin on the side that perfectly complements its rich broth.
  • Green Curry Chicken Noodles: Experience the creamy and spicy goodness of green curry, enhanced by the addition of tender chicken and noodles.

Oktoberfest Delights

As the leaves change and the festive spirit of Oktoberfest fills the air, Mango Tree Cafe has curated a special menu of classic bites and Thai-inspired cocktails to celebrate.

Appetizer Platter

  • Appetizer Platter: A feast for the senses, this platter showcases a variety of delectable appetizers, including sweet fried potatoes, salted egg chicken skin, green mango salad, Thai vegetable spring rolls, and chicken satay.
  • Thai-Inspired Cocktails: Sip on refreshing and flavorful cocktails like the Mah Kwan Cucumber Sour and Mah Kwan Watermelon Spice, expertly crafted with Thai ingredients.

Whether you're a seasoned Thai food enthusiast or seeking to explore new culinary horizons, Mango Tree Cafe's latest offerings are sure to impress. Visit their restaurant today and experience the vibrant flavors of Thailand, elevated to new heights.

While you're there, please also try to order my favorite Minty Lemonade or their signature Thai Iced tea. The minty lemonade is a great palate cleanser. A refreshing twist on a classic, minty lemonade combines the tartness of lemons with the cool, invigorating flavor of fresh mint. The perfect balance of sweet and tangy, this drink is ideal for hot summer days. The addition of mint leaves adds a subtle herbaceous note that complements the citrusy sweetness of the lemonade.

Minty Lemonade

Thai iced tea, on the other hand, is a beloved Southeast Asian beverage known for its rich, creamy texture and distinctive sweet and slightly bitter flavor. Brewed with black tea and sweetened with condensed milk, Thai iced tea is often served over ice. The combination of flavors is a delightful treat that is both refreshing and indulgent.

Mango Tree Cafe's elegant ambiance and attentive service make it the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely meal. The restaurant's commitment to using fresh, high-quality ingredients is evident in every dish. Whether you're a seasoned Thai food enthusiast or simply looking to try something new, Mango Tree Cafe's All Day Thai menu is sure to impress. With its delicious dishes and inviting atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves Thai cuisine.

Surf Introduces New & Wais Innovations to Keep Clothes Bright and Blooming Fresh

As modern lifestyles and unpredictable weather make laundry challenging for a growing number of people, Surf—the#1 laundry Masterbrand in the Philippines—launched two new products to fight Amoy-pawis and Amoy-kulob.

The New Surf Fabric Conditioner Fresh & Bloom boasts 3x Amoy-Pawis Shield Technology, which protects clothes from amoy-pawis and keeps them fresh and blooming for up to 12 hours, especially during sweat-inducing activities and hot weather (versus just washing it with detergent only).

During the event program, Assistant Business Performance Manager – Surf FabCon, Marian Almendras emphasized that when it comes to laundry, using detergent isn’t enough, and applying fabric conditioner is equally important. “With the new Surf Fabcon Fresh & Bloom, you can keep your clothes from developing that unpleasant smell caused by sweat, even after a tiring activity or particularly hot weather. That is because it is formulated with an anti-pawis shield which is a combination of a NEW fragrance that targets to mask the odor of sweat and melcap technology, which encapsulates that blooming fresh fragrance and is released gradually through movement or rubbing action.”

Meanwhile, the new Surf Ultra Power Liquid Sun Fresh provides 3x Sun Power Technology that protects clothes from amoy-kulob especially when they can’t hang these to dry under the sun.
“For all of us who do the laundry at home, we know that there are certain malodors that we experience via our clothes that can make the process more stressful,” sharedAssistant Business Performance Manager - Surf, Samantha Co. “With the new Sun Fresh variant, not only do you benefit from the doble nuot power of Surf Liquids- which refers to the 2X penetration of the detergent across fabric layers para sa tanggal-mantsa- but you also never have to worry about Amoy-Kulob thanks to the 3x Sun Power Technology behind the new product formulation that leaves clothes with a fresh fragrance para sa talbog-kulob na parang pinatuyo sa araw.
Both new products add to Surf’s ‘sing galing, pero ‘di ‘sing mahal philosophy that helps Filipino households wash clothes with lasting fragrance and cleanliness at the best value.
Business Performance Manager for Surf Masterbrand, Raiza Revilla-Libao shared that these two new products were developed meticulously to provide the best benefits at the best value. “For 65 years, Surf has always been committed to providing Wais moms with Wais laundry solutions without having to break the bank. As Surf offers uncompromised quality at an accessible and affordable price, the Filipino moms we serve are able to reallocate their concerns to other things that matter.”

The event was hosted by TV host and momfluencer, Nikki Viola, who showed excitement with the new products. “These products ensure long-lasting freshness and fragrance with every wash – without having to worry about the different types of malodors such as amoy-pawis and amoy-kulob that moms like me face in our everyday lives.”
Surf also invited TikTok personality, Macoy Averilla aka MacoyDubs, who shared how the brand has been consistent in its promise to provide households with quality laundry products. “Lumen days palang tumatak na sakin yung “’sing galing, pero di ‘sing mahal”. That’s why I’m aways relieved kapag yung suot kong damit madaling linisin and it can stay fragrant ano man ang ganap mo in life!” he shares.
Event attendees were also encouraged to check out interactive booths that exhibit the long-lasting fragrances that Surf can deliver. Guests created personalized fabric scents from a wide selection of floral fragrances and built bouquets using crochet flowers.[GU2]
The exclusive launch event was held at Pardon My French restaurant in Makati City.
Protect clothes from amoy-pawis with the new Surf Fabric Conditioner Fresh & Bloom available in 28ml and 69ml sachets, and 670ml and 1480ml pouches. Fight amoy-kulob with the new Surf Ultra Power Liquid Sun Fresh available in a 64ml sachet[GU3] , and 900ml and 2.5L pouches. Both products are now available at stores near you.

CCP CELEBRATES SINING KAMBAYOKA ENSEMBLE'S GOLDEN YEAR

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) celebrates the 50th founding anniversary of the Sining Kambayoka Ensemble with a series of outreach performances from September 25 to 26 at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez (CCP Blackbox Theater), and on September 27 to 28 in Silang, Cavite, and Pila, Laguna. The country's leading art institution, which is also celebrating its 55th anniversary this year, has supported and presented SKE numerous times in its various programs and venues, especially in its outreach tours in the regional, national, and international communities.

Sumindaw Performing Arts

A Gawad CCP and CCP Kaisa sa Sining Gador Awardee, the Mindanao State University Marawi City resident theater company will present three landmark plays: Pilandok, Sulambi, and Si Nonoy at Si Inday. The featured productions will be performed by SKE, as well as the Sumidaw Performing Arts of Pagadian City and the Sining Sarangan Ensemble of General Santos City—two regional theater groups under former SKE artists and directors.

SKE’s Pilandok

SKE has changed the state of theater in Mindanao, promoting the stories of the Meranaw, the indigenous people living in Lake Lanao, one of the country's deepest and coolest lakes, and its surrounding areas. The theater group, whose name comes from the root word "bayok," is known for the kambayoka theater, a form based on the Meranaw traditional performing arts where two versifiers act out the story.

Sining Kambayoka Ensemble (SKE)

Since its inception, SKE has strived to promote awareness, appreciation, understanding, safeguarding, and propagation of the bayok. Holding the distinction of being the only theater company that has improvised and popularized its own theater form, SKE has mounted and restaged quality theater productions based on the Mindanao tri-people's cultures.

Like many groups in the creative sector, SKE has faced its own challenges and needs to keep up with the changing times of modern technology and social media. Committed to sustaining the group and its mission, SKE continues to mount and tour original productions, receive opportunities through grants, and engage in cultural exchanges. For the past five decades, the Mindanaoan theater group has received numerous recognitions and awards.

SKE founding artistic-executive director Frank G. Rivera noted: “The Sining Kambayoka made Philippine Theatre view 'regional theatre' as a force to rediscover what true Philippine Theatre has at its core: its own theatre form; that Philippine Theatre is original in form and content. SKE must continue to harness what is our own not only to inspire young artists but to make them move to action and truly make culture and the arts essential ingredients in nation-building. Hindi basta artist na magaling mag-entertain, kundi artist na may pakinabang (Not just an artist who is good at entertaining, but an artist with a purpose).”

CCP Cultural Exchange Department manager Chinggay Jasareno-Bernardo cited: “The 50-year journey was not easy. But one thing is certain: SKE and its community are proud of the impact the theater company has made not only in Philippine theater and arts but, more significantly, in how it has positively changed the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Mindanao culture, traditions, and creative expressions, particularly those of Muslim, Meranaw, and other indigenous peoples among the Filipino and international communities. Evidently, SKE artistic director Sunnie Clemen Noel's dedication, passion, and selflessness over the past 22 years have ensured that the artistry and ideals of Sining Kambayoka are shared with and experienced by the communities outside Marawi, outside Mindanao, by the whole country and the rest of the world.”

SKE adviser-consultant Prof. Cecile B. Mambuay shared: “The SKE is poised to thrive in Mindanao's arts scene with their innovative Kambayoka theatre form. They may become a beacon of creativity and inspiration, expanding their unique style of performance and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Plans include creating opportunities for artists to grow and establishing a training center for budding artists to explore the Kambayoka theater form further.”

All performances, slated for September 25 and 26 with 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM shows at the CCP Blackbox Theater, are invitational. The outreach shows are on September 27 at 5 PM at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and September 28 at 4 PM at the Colegio Monterei de Pila Child Development Inc. in Pila, Laguna. The SKE 50th anniversary outreach engagements are presented by the CCP in partnership with the Kambayoka Center for Culture and Arts Development Inc. (KCCADI).
