Unwrap the Spirit of Filipino Creativity and Festivity: Christmas Village Fair and National Fiesta Haraya

DTI Secretary Cristina Roque (center) opened the first Christmas Village Fair, held from November 18 to 22 at One Ayala in Makati City. She was assisted by Asec. Leonila Baluyot (left) of the DTI-Competitiveness and Innovation Group, and Director Marievic Bonoan (right) of the DTI-Bureau of Market Development, Promotions, and OTOP.

Celebrate the warmth and vibrancy of the Filipino holiday season as the Megatrade Halls 2-3 of SM Megamall transform into a festive haven for the second leg of the DTI-Bagong Pilipinas Christmas Village Fair and National Fiesta Haraya, happening from November 30 to December 4, 2024, at Megatrade Halls 2-3. This grand celebration, spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), is set to immerse visitors in the richness of Philippine culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship, making it the ultimate destination for holiday shoppers and culture enthusiasts alike.

Christmas Village Fairs: A Treasure Trove of Filipino Heritage and Innovation The Christmas Village Fair, organized by the DTI-Bureau of Market Development, Promotions, and OTOP (BMDPO), brings together a dazzling array of local entrepreneurs and artisans, showcasing the best of Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity. With over 150 exhibitors from the regions, the event promises a one-of-a-kind shopping experience that combines tradition, sustainability, and modernity. Highlights include:

  • Artisanal and Handcrafted Goods: Find unique, handwoven textiles, intricate jewelry, and fashion pieces that reflect the exceptional skills of Filipino artisans. These items, crafted with love and care, make for thoughtful holiday gifts.
  • Culinary Adventures: Indulge in regional delicacies, gourmet treats, and artisanal food products that capture the diverse flavors of the Philippines. Bring the varied tastes of the regions to your Christmas table, or gift loved ones with herbal teas or fruit wines.
  • Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Options: Browse through a variety of eco-conscious products, including upcycled home décor, organic personal care items, and reusable accessories, aligning with the growing call for sustainability.
  • Holiday Décor and Crafts: Decorate your home with uniquely Filipino holiday ornaments and festive items crafted by local communities.

National Fiesta Haraya: Honoring Filipino Creativity Across Industries

The National Fiesta Haraya adds colors to the Christmas Village Fairs by showcasing Filipino culture and creativity, bridging the gap between tradition and innovation.

Complementing the marketplace is the National Fiesta Haraya, a celebration of the unparalleled talent and innovation of Filipino creatives. Haraya, a term rooted in the Filipino concept of imagination and vision, perfectly captures the spirit of this event. The event, spearheaded by the DTI-Creative Industries Development Office (CIDO) consists of:
  • Creative Cluster Showcases: Experience the diversity of Filipino creativity through exhibitions and live performances in music, performing arts, visual arts, digital animation, cultural heritage, and digital creative services. Regional representatives from Visayas and Mindanao will bring their unique stories and traditions to life.
  • Live Performances: Be captivated by cultural performances featuring traditional dances, modern interpretations, and musical showcases that highlight the dynamic fusion of Filipino heritage and contemporary artistry.
  • Interactive Art Installations: Witness creativity in action through interactive installations and live art demonstrations.

A Celebration with a Purpose: Supporting Local MSMEs

This five-day event is more than a festive gathering—it’s a platform to uplift micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Filipino creative talents. By showcasing their products and services to a wider audience, the DTI reinforces its commitment to fostering economic growth, cultural preservation, and innovation.

Visitors not only take home beautifully crafted products but also contribute directly to empowering local communities and ensuring that Filipino traditions and craftsmanship thrive for generations to come.
